Architect Tools - Drawing and Productivity Tools
The Architect Tools toolbar contains several tools developed by programmer Thomas Thomassen, known as ThomThom in the SketchUp world. The tools are great for those working in architecture or urban planning, since they're geared toward generating building masses and editing roads and terrain, based on imported .DWG files.
See below a brief description of the plugin's tools.
Generate Buildings: Extrudes faces to create volumes based on one or more reference layers (containing the building heights) and a terrain reference level.
Merge Solid Buildings: Merges solids without intersecting their edges. Fill Solid Holes: Attempts to remove holes in solid objects, such as window openings in walls. Select Non-Solids: Filters the current selection to keep only non-solid groups/components. Make 2:1 Road Profile: For each selected line, the plugin creates triangles at a 2:1 ratio (one at each end of the line), used to draw road profiles or embankments. Move to Z: Lets you set a Z height (blue axis) for selected edges. Contour Tool: A tool that helps close curves imported from CAD drawings that aren't properly closed. Extrude Up: Extrudes a group containing faces up to reference lines present in your model (such as a .DWG file in which the curves are properly positioned on the Z axis). Project Down Tool: Lets you project the edges of a group or component onto a plane immediately below it without needing to edit the object (useful for projecting roof edges onto a plane, for example). Magnet Tool: Select edges that will be projected onto the geometry immediately above them. You can also edit the reference points to which the faces will be "attracted." Move to Plane: A tool that snaps surfaces to a selected plane. Flatten Selection: A tool that flattens all the selected geometry, creating a projection of what was selected at the Z = 0 level.
You can download Architect Tools through the SketchUp Extension Warehouse. The plugin is provided under a scheme called Donateware, meaning you can download and use it without paying anything, but the author asks for a contribution.
